Dear readers,

I apologize for offending some of you with my columns related to the events of September 11. My intent is to defy and ridicule America's enemies and call attention to their increasingly sketchy future, not to--in any way--make light of the tragedy and suffering through which we are all living.

It's my belief that humor provides a much-needed release when feelings of unbearable tension and sadness threaten to overwhelm us.
